Taranto`s Pizza Barn in Pickerington

1.5 stars. We continue to come back hoping things will be better. We have been eating here for 10+ years. Service has declined and so has quality of pizza. We used to love it here. The last good service we had was over the summer. Tonight was unfortunately one of our more disappointing experiences. Our order took a long time not to mention the appetizer came out with the main order. Our server kept commenting on how packed it was (same excuse as other times). It continues to be busy and understaffed.

Making changes as they change management but they are doing great and still have the same feel of the old Torantos.

Food came out one item at a time , very slowly. Stromboli was burnt, tried to send it back and our waitress was so high we had to tell her several times it was burnt, she even asked "is it all burnt?" Yes except for the inside she stood there looking at it for a minute. Service use to be great.

Locally owned pizza shop. Comfortable dining area that has a family friendly atmosphere. Good pizzas and sub's. Love the Stromboli.

Had a good dinner with my husband and grandma here. Pizza was good and they have a good deal on Sunday for free ice cream. Would definitely go back. We got wings too which were delicious. Staff was friendly and it was clean.

The service for my pick up order was lousy! The guy taking care of the register was more interested in flirting with 2 dine in ladies, than he was in getting my pick up order ready. He ignored me for 6 minutes. Then when I paid for my order, he forgot to give me my salad. When I asked for it, he wanted to see my receipt that he had just given me. This was my first time going here, and it will most certainly be the last!!

This Pizza is very good, i would say this is my first choice to choose out of all the other pizza competitors in the state of Ohio.Their service and Quality is Wonderful. I live about 25 minutes away, i will drive where food is good, this tells it all.

Small meaty pizza was 12.99 and had very little flavor or meat. Also got spaghetti which was hard in places and super bland.

Management was great. Friendly and helpful. Great promotions on groupon and some others. They also have covered and outdoor patios with live music some days. UPDATE 11/1/18: This review was BEFORE it changed ownership and management. I have not been to the new restaurant called Reitano's, but the old google reviews for the previous establishment are still active it seems under the new name/owner. If/when I do visit the new owned/managed shop, I will update this review again.

Service was really good. Food was inexpensive, but tasted that way too. My partner and I were the only people eating in the restaurant. Maybe the food is better when they are really busy. I would rate the food we had as a two. My partner's Stromboli was baked to the point of being burnt on top. My chicken parm was the same. It even came with meatballs, which was a surprise. I just got the feeling that everything here comes from a box or can. Service was really the only good part of our dinner and the reason why I rate this place with 3 stars. Maybe you'll have better luck.

We ordered pizza. Thin crust was tasty and hot.

Tasty Pizza and few arcade games. They have 1/2 price deals on pizza and brews on Monday and Tuesday with live music. Wednesday's are free sundaes.

Had take out there for the 1st time since new ownership took over. Great improvement.Family Special pizza and Sub where very tasty. Appears to be homemade crusts and fresh ingredients. Went inside for pickup instead of drive thru, updated interior big change and more modern pizza, sub and pasta place.

Reviews here are for the previous owner & name i.e. Taranto's, if I could rate Reitano's in the negative would not hesitate.Have been a patron of the previous establishment for 26+ years. Suddenly on a Monday the phone is answered Reitano's instead of the expected Taranto's. While they assure me everything is the same, the prices are not. Further....Google Reitano's….Takes you to the Taranto's web site (thus the reviews here) with the previous pricing & specials none of which the new owner cares to honor. Notified him of this, "someone did not do their job", yet a 1 1/2 weeks later same result.I do not have a problem with change, in fact felt that Taranto's had become very inconsistent so change perhaps could have been good. However everything is not "the same" and not sure alienating a 26 year weekly patron is good for the future outlook of this establishment. There are other options with more coming on the way.

Great pizza. Service is almost self-serve. If you sit in the front area, make sure you go to the counter and let them know you're there. Getting drinks from the cooler will help speed things up. Its really too bad, becuase the pizza is exceptional.

Pizza was delicious! Staff was very pleasant. Good daily specials.

Good pizza with friendly fast staff/service!

I ordered the breaded mushrooms for $5.99 and got 10 mushrooms. I'm not sure if this was a mistake but I felt ripped off. Pizza was ok at best. With all the other pizza options in pickerington, I doubt I'll be back.

I have a very mixed review. I ordered the deluxe salad for $7.49, it was pathetic for the price, only 4 pepperoni's, 2 slices of tomatoes, no cheese (my mistake for assuming cheese was on a salad, it is not listed on the menu.) The pizza was good and staff was nice.

Called and ordered pizza at 4:20pm. Waited, waiting, waiting, waiting, we call at 6:10 where's our pizza? Lady says hes in route. 6:25 guy shows up and says he locks his keys in the car. SMH. Only thing that saved you from Not give you 0 stars is the guy knocks 6 dollars off and our order and it was pretty good and at least a little warm.

Love the pizza . Sauce is perfected from the previous owners. We were a little upset when we found out they were closing but I believe the Reitanos family will make this a great pizza shop. So glad for the improvements in the dinning area. Tonight’s pizza was amazing. Hoping we can all give them more than one chance to earn our business . Love the family feel, keep up the good work.

Tasty pepperoni pizza. Choice of crusts. Very appealing salads. Eat in or carry out.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and OMG that pizza and Garlic Bread was amazing!!

Really loved everything about this place. Best pizza I have had this side of Columbus. Our server was friendly and seemed happy to help. Manager was very happy to come out and explain the restaurant's story too! Everyone here made us feel like we were part of the family.

The Manager is always friendly, even though you can tell he's short or understaffed. I don't recall his name but he is awesome. Get this man a better crew!!!!

Crust was paper thin, like eating Jacks frozen pizza. Cheap foam small cups for the fountain were disappointing. The remodeling job improved the interior , but the pizza failed the test.

1. We choose this place specifically because it said they have burgers. They don't. We have a weird child who hates pizza, but we love it. So part of the compromise is that they offer something she really likes, like burgers.2. There were ten onion rings for $4.25. The pizza just got here. I really hope it's good. 😭

Good food & great customer service! Very cute quaint little restaurant. Manager went out of his way to ensure we had a good experience. My family and I will definitely go back! :)

They are just getting started, so I'm gonna go easy on them. The pizza was ok. I would get another pizza. The cheese sticks, on the other hand, were not.

We just dined for the very first time and it was great! Manager greeted us at the door, food was great and good customer service. Manager shook hands and thanked us for our business. Classic business etiquette

Everything was burnt. When I asked them to remake only one of the items, I was told it was "cooked to spec." I then asked if they could cook it less and was told "it would be undercooked." I'm a little confused how cooking it before it burns would make them undercooked. The server was kind enough to discount the meal by three dollars and give me a fountain drink for free. I would have rather had my potato skins remade like I requested. I was looking forward to them. The pizza was also below average. Perhaps it was just a really bad night for the restaurant.

Amazing food. New management is great. I would recommend anyone in the area to try Reitanos. Thanks Jim and Steve. My family appreciates what you did for us.

I love pizza and I love going to local pizza places. I got a groupon to try this place out with my kids. It took 30 min to get the appetizer. The potato skins seriously under cooked. There were cold spots when you bit into it. The cheese sticks look like a cheap brand of cheese sticks as well as the chicken tenders. They were just unappetizing. The first pizza we got was the Italian sub pizza, that was a horrible idea and executed poorly. The sub meat was not cut up, it was cheap deli meat and my kids didn’t like the enormous amount of Italian dressing they poured all over it. The other pizza was a white pizza with chicken and a pepperoni pizza. They use very cheap cheese. It was super greasy. The bottom line is the cost for cheap products resulted in over priced and unappetizing food. I spent over $40 buck and then they messed up my check and over charged me. Find another local spot to eat pizza until this place invest in fresh products to make their food with. Horrible!!!

I was shocked when I was served pizza with a side of roaches embedded into the sauce. When I spoke to the manager he told me that he refused to remake the pizza that they crawled out of my purse and into the pizza then laughed at me and told me to leave. Wow. Most embarrassing experience I have ever went though. I cant believe this place even has any business at all with a person like that working there. The restaurant is extremely dirty. The health department was informed about this atrocity. Hoping that order is restored and the place gets shut down.

Super service! Got great people working here. Quantity is no problem. You'll get more than you can eat. The pasta dishes that we had, however, lacked the "freshly" made flavor that we are a custom. But, I bet the pizza is great!

Love their pizza and subs, great flavor, I personally like their pep, pep & mushroom. Family favorite and the Works are very good too. Carry out or dine in are great!

Note: this review refers to delivery service only as I haven't actually eaten at the establishment in many years. From what I remember, it is a cozy, clean place. I do know they have live music, which is a plus. That being said, I do order delivery quite frequently. In my opinion, they have the best Italian sub in Pickerington. I have always loved their pizza as well. Toppings are plentiful & the sauce has a nice tangy flavor. Also, they will deliver a milkshake to your door, which is awesome! Staff has always been friendly & helpful to me. I have mentioned before that there are a lot of pretty good pizza places in the area, & Taranto's is a go-to for me. Recommended.

Decent pizza, it taste similar to many other small pizza places though. The drive thru window is a plus, as well as the friendly staff.

One of the employees there was really handsome. I think his name was reece or something. And the food was to die for. Absolutely incredible experience from the service to the atmosphere!

Pizza was acceptable but not great. It was not busy and it took about 25 minutes for an individual pizza, was told it would be 10-15 minutes. Ice cream bar is underwhelming, two pump dispenser and 5 carafes with various topping strewn on an otherwise empty table. Decor is sparse with most lighting coming from lights barely above your head reminiscent of an interrogation scene. Doughnuts in case were from Jolly Pirate and I couldn’t tell how fresh they were. The men’s restroom contained a wet floor from an apparent leaking water heater which is at your knees when using the bathroom. Overall, even though the space is cleaner than when it was Tarantos, the atmosphere and food was disappointing. Hopefully they will improve as they go along.
